Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reviews Char Dham Yatra 2026 preparations

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the ongoing arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra 2026, as the pilgrimage moves into its more challenging second phase marked by increased footfall, weather-related risks, and logistical pressure on mountain routes.

During the meeting, CM Dhami took stock of preparations across key departments including tourism, health, police, disaster management, and transport. Officials briefed him on the current status of crowd management systems, registration data, medical preparedness, and road connectivity along the four sacred shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that pilgrim safety remains the top priority, especially as the yatra enters higher-altitude stretches where weather conditions can change rapidly. He emphasized the need for real-time monitoring systems, quick-response emergency teams, and uninterrupted communication networks along the entire route.

Dhami also reviewed the deployment of medical facilities, including temporary health centres, ambulances, and helicopter evacuation readiness for critical cases. He instructed authorities to ensure that no shortage of essential supplies such as food, fuel, and drinking water is reported at any point during the yatra.

Focus was also placed on crowd regulation at major transit points and dhams, with officials asked to strengthen entry management systems and avoid congestion during peak hours. The CM further stressed coordination between district administrations, police forces, and disaster response teams for smooth operations.

In addition, he directed strict enforcement of environmental guidelines, including waste disposal management and maintaining the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Authorities were also asked to take action against misinformation and ensure only verified updates related to the pilgrimage are circulated.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that digital monitoring tools and AI-based systems are being increasingly used to track pilgrim movement and improve response time during emergencies. The government also reiterated its commitment to making the Char Dham Yatra 2026 safe, organized, and accessible for all devotees.
