Story
This is a real story, Srikant who lives in Machilipatnam of Andhra Pradesh, who cannot see, but he dreams big and one of his big dreams is to become the first blind president of the country, in school Srikant meets his teacher Jyotika who is like Yashoda Maa to him, she teaches him to move ahead in this life and fight the problems, he moves ahead but then his ego gets him expelled from the school, what happens next, does he come back to school, why does he fight the Indian education system, for this you will have to go to the cinema hall to watch Srikant’s story.
How is the film?
This is a film that motivates you. Srikant fills you with enthusiasm that if you have courage and passion, anything can be done. The first half of the film is amazing. It does not slacken at any point. You do not get bored at any point. Yes, when a romantic song comes, you can take a break. There are many such scenes when eyes become moist. You start on Srikant’s journey, but in the second half, the film goes astray. You do not understand what is happening for some time, but then there is a tremendous climax which forces you to clap. Overall, the film is very good and must be watched.
Acting
Rajkummar Rao wins over Srikanth, he is a wonderful actor and he has already proved that, here he takes his acting range further, seeing his acting it seems that he is a strong contender for the Best Actor award this year, Alaya F’s work is good but her role is small, she should have been given more screen space, Jyotika has done a great job, Sharad Kelkar’s acting is amazing as always.
Direction
Tushar Hiranandani’s direction is good, his grip on the film is visible. He has previously directed Saand Ki Aankh and Scam 2003. He has a long experience of writing and this is visible in his direction but the writing of the second half of the film affects his work as well. If Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit had written the second half better, then this would have become the best film of this year.
Overall, despite the shortcomings, this film is worth watching and should be watched. If you liked 12th Fail, you will definitely like this one too.
