Feeling fatigued despite getting plenty of sleep
Doctors advise that if you feel tired even after adequate sleep—accompanied by other physical symptoms—it is important to pay attention to them.
Feeling cold all the time – If you constantly feel cold during the day alongside fatigue and weakness, it could indicate an iron deficiency. A lack of blood (or hemoglobin) in the body can make you feel colder than usual.
Shortness of breath during routine tasks – Doctors note that getting out of breath while performing daily activities is not normal—especially during tasks that wouldn’t typically cause breathlessness. This could be a sign that your body requires more iron.
Hair loss – Rapid hair loss is another major symptom of iron deficiency. If you are losing more hair than usual, you should consult a doctor. However, keep in mind that there can be various other causes for hair loss besides iron deficiency.
Yellowish skin or eyes – If the whites of your eyes are turning yellow or your skin appears slightly yellow, this discoloration is a sign that warrants attention. Skin yellowing can be a symptom of iron deficiency; this occurs when the body’s red blood cell count drops.
Keep in mind that these symptoms could indicate other health issues in addition to iron deficiency, or they may signal a general nutritional deficiency. If these symptoms persist for a long time, it is essential to consult a doctor.
