Mumps Virus Alert: A disease has created a stir in Rajasthan, due to which people are becoming deaf. This is a very dangerous virus, which is being called Mumps. According to reports, out of those affected by this virus, 6 people have lost their hearing ability so far. These include two children. Earlier there were 5-7 cases of this virus, which have now increased to more than 50 every month. Health experts have issued a special guideline regarding this.

How dangerous is the mumps virus?
Mumps is a viral infection that is badly affecting the salivary glands. Due to this virus, the glands on both sides of the face swell. It is also called mumps. Usually this disease occurs in children but now adults have also started getting affected by it. Apart from sneezing, the mumps virus is spreading rapidly due to contact with infectious droplets coming out of the nose and throat. According to health experts, the symptoms of mumps appear within at least 1-2 weeks after getting infected. Its symptoms are exactly like flu.

What to do to avoid getting the mumps virus
1. Do not forget to get MMR vaccine for children to prevent mumps disease.
2. If anyone in the house has mumps, keep them isolated for at least 7 days.
3. Take proper and adequate rest for quick recovery.
4. Eat as many soft things as possible, consume more liquids.
5. Avoid chewing food.
6. Use ice pack to reduce swelling.
7. If symptoms of mumps appear, immediately go to the doctor and get treatment.
