Supreme Court Summons Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna: The Supreme Court has summoned Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna in the allopathic medicine effect case . While hearing this matter today, the Supreme Court adopted a strict stance and asked Baba Ramdev why action should not be taken under contempt of court. The court said that prima facie both of them have violated the law. Now the next hearing in this case will take place after two weeks.Â
In the last hearing, the top court had issued notice to Patanjali Ayurveda and its managing director Acharya Balkrishna, asking them to file contempt proceedings against them for prima facie violating the company’s affidavit given in the court regarding the advertisement of its products and their medicinal efficacy. Why proceedings should not be initiated. The Supreme Court had directed the Center to explain to the court on the steps taken against Patanjali over the advertisement which promised “permanent relief, cure and eradication” from diseases like Diabetes, BP, Thyroid, Asthma, Glaucoma and Arthritis etc. Claim was made.

During the hearing in February this year, the apex court had restrained Patanjali Ayurveda from advertising its products for the treatment of diseases till further orders, saying that “the entire country has been cheated.” Justice Hima Kohli and Justice A. Amanullah’s bench had also cautioned Patanjali Ayurveda and its officials against making any statement in print or electronic media against any method of treatment.
Patanjali was reprimanded
On November 29, 2023, the Supreme Court had shown strictness on the petition of the Indian Medical Association objecting to the advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda. Hearing the Indian Medical Association’s petition against the statements and advertisements of Patanjali and Ramdev about allopathy and its medicines and vaccinations, a bench of Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra found Patanjali publishing misleading claims and advertisements about allopathy. Patanjali was reprimanded for this.
