Bilaspur Violence Update: Major action in the Bilaspur violence case; Sohail Khan surrendered at the police station, and three accomplices were also arrested.

Bilaspur Violence Update: Sohail Khan, the alleged mastermind behind the clash and stone-pelting incident in Bilaspur’s Khaparganj area, has surrendered at the Koni police station. Meanwhile, the police have also apprehended three of his accomplices who had been absconding. All four accused are currently being interrogated. The police had been actively searching for Khaparganj resident Sohail Khan in connection with the stone-pelting incident that followed a dispute between two groups on the night of August 28. After evading arrest for four days and facing continuous police pressure, Sohail Khan surrendered at the Koni police station on the night of September 1. Police also arrested his absconding associates—Arbaz, Abdul Razzaq, and another individual, all residents of Khaparganj—from the Lalkhadan area. All four accused have been taken into custody and are being questioned regarding the incident.

It is worth noting that a dispute near a biryani center in Khaparganj (under the City Kotwali police station limits) on August 28 escalated into a violent clash and stone-pelting. Following the initial dispute, both sides summoned their associates to the scene, causing the situation to deteriorate. Heavy stone-pelting took place between the two groups in the middle of the road late into the night, leaving several people seriously injured. A large police force was deployed to maintain law and order, and the SSP and District Collector also arrived at the scene. Taking action in the matter, the police have arrested a total of 11 accused individuals from both sides. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest others involved in the incident.

12 Accused Arrested So Far

Prior to this, the police had arrested 11 individuals in connection with the case—eight from Sohail’s group and three from Thakur Ram Singh’s group. With Sohail Khan’s arrest, the total number of accused in custody has risen to 12. However, another key accused, Thakur Ram Singh, remains at large, along with other suspects. The police are actively searching for them.
