Narayanpur: Following a similar incident in Bharanda, a dispute over religious conversion has erupted in Khadka village in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. An ultimatum has been issued for converted families to leave the village. Members of the tribal community have removed belongings from the homes of these converted families. Consequently, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area due to the tense situation.
The incident centers on Khadka village, where a serious dispute has arisen between the tribal community and families who have converted to Christianity. Two such families have had their belongings thrown out of their homes as pressure mounts for them to leave the village. Villagers insist that converted families must contribute to village social events just like everyone else and adhere to tribal deities and traditional customs.
Conversely, the affected families state that they will contribute funds only once a year but will not observe tribal religious traditions. This disagreement has escalated tensions. In light of the situation, a large police contingent has been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incidents, and the administration is taking necessary action. It is worth noting that recently, tribal villagers in Bharanda had also demanded that 26 converted families leave the village, pressuring those who had adopted Christianity to either return to their original culture or depart.
