Supreme Court Dismisses Government’s SLP
The Chhattisgarh government had filed an SLP in the Supreme Court challenging an earlier order regarding the constable recruitment case. During the hearing, the apex court dismissed the state government’s petition.
With the dismissal of the SLP, the legal hurdle hindering the recruitment process has been removed. This paves the way for the appointment of eligible candidates on the waiting list who meet the prescribed criteria and have been waiting a long time to join.
Directive to Complete Appointments Within Three Months
The case was heard by a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva. The court has directed that the appointment process for the eligible candidates be completed within three months.
Following the Supreme Court’s order, the concerned department must now complete the necessary departmental formalities. The process to ensure the joining of eligible candidates within the stipulated timeframe will now move forward.
Candidates Had Been Waiting Long for Appointment
Despite being selected and meeting all eligibility criteria for the constable recruitment process, the appointments of many candidates had remained stalled. Although their names were on the waiting list, they could not join due to the matter becoming entangled in the judicial process.
Candidates had been keenly watching for the court’s verdict after the state government filed the SLP in the Supreme Court. Now, with the apex court dismissing the SLP, hopes for these candidates’ appointments have been significantly bolstered.
