New Flight for Chhattisgarh: A new flight service may soon be launched for air travelers in Chhattisgarh. Preparations are underway to operate flights from Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur, to Varanasi, Ranchi, or Patna via Ambikapur. To this end, Alliance Air has submitted a proposal to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) seeking permission to operate flights during the winter season.
The proposal outlines two distinct route options: operating flights from Raipur-Ambikapur to either Ranchi or Patna. Once DGCA approval is received, operations could commence on one of these routes.
Plan to Start with Two Flights a Week
Considering passenger volume, the initial plan is to operate this flight twice a week. The frequency of flights may be increased later based on passenger demand and feedback.
According to travel operators, the winter season begins in the last week of October. In anticipation of this, airlines are submitting proposals for new flights and revised schedules. Raman Jadwani, former state president of the Travel Operators Federation of India (TOFI), stated that processes are also underway to launch new flights to Patna, Ranchi, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, and Pune. Official announcements regarding these services are likely to be made before the winter schedule comes into effect.
Operations Likely with 62-Seater ATR Aircraft
Alliance Air is preparing to operate a 62-seater ATR aircraft on this new route. Company officials state that the aircraft is available for the new route, and the service can commence as soon as DGCA approval is granted.
Currently, Alliance Air operates flights on various routes from Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, and Ambikapur airports. Two route options have been submitted to the DGCA for the proposed new service from Raipur; further proceedings will begin once one of these routes is approved. Fares could be kept affordable initially
There is a plan to keep initial fares affordable to attract passengers when the new flight service launches. However, the actual fares will only become clear after DGCA approval and the finalization of the flight schedule. This initiative is expected to boost air connectivity from Raipur to Ambikapur and onwards to Varanasi, Ranchi, or Patna.
