The Health and Family Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh has completed all preparations for the National Pulse Polio Campaign scheduled to be held across the state on Sunday. Under this campaign, 3,598,904 children up to the age of five years in the state will be administered two drops of the polio vaccine. More than 57,000 vaccinators, organized into 28,791 teams, have been deployed to conduct the campaign. Following the designated ‘Booth Day,’ teams will conduct door-to-door visits on June 29 and 30 to administer the polio dose to children who could not reach the booths for any reason.
Preparations for the successful execution of the campaign have been finalized across all 33 districts of the state. Coordination among various departments has been established through task force meetings held at the district and block levels. Training for health workers, supervisors, and vaccination teams has been completed. Verification of micro-plans, vaccine availability, cold chain management, and necessary logistical arrangements have all been finalized.
Special efforts will be made during this campaign to reach children in remote villages, forest areas, urban settlements, brick kilns, and construction sites, as well as those belonging to migrant and nomadic families. After the booth day, teams will visit homes to administer the polio dose to children who were unable to reach the booths.
State Immunization Officer Dr. V. R. Bhagat stated, “All preparations for the National Pulse Polio Campaign have been completed on schedule. During the campaign, in addition to administering drops at designated booths, door-to-door visits will be conducted to ensure that no child between the ages of birth and five years misses out on the polio dose. Parents must bring their children to the designated booths. If, for any reason, they are unable to reach a booth, they should cooperate with the visiting health team. The participation of every family is crucial in sustaining the achievement of a polio-free India.
The Health Department has appealed to parents to ensure that every child aged birth to five years receives the two drops of the polio vaccine during this campaign, regardless of whether they have previously received the vaccine through routine immunization or a prior Pulse Polio drive. Reaching every child is essential to maintaining the status of a polio-free India.”
