Raipur Traffic Helpline: Ten Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been formed to streamline the city’s traffic system. These teams reach the scene in less than 10 minutes upon receiving a report of a traffic jam, helping to clear the congestion. A dedicated helpline number, 94792-10632, has also been issued for reporting traffic jams. So far, 88 reports of traffic jams have been received from citizens. In response to each report, the QRT reached the location within an average of 5 to 8 minutes and cleared the congestion.
Operated via ITMS Control Room
The QRTs are managed through the ITMS (Integrated Traffic Management System) control room. The ITMS continuously monitors traffic conditions across various city areas using Google Maps and CCTV cameras. Based on calls from the public, ITMS staff provide the specific location to the relevant QRT and dispatch them to the scene immediately.
Traffic Jams in Several Areas
Heavy traffic congestion occurs in several parts of the city between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and again between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Major causes include non-functional traffic signals, the absence of ‘free left-turn’ lanes, encroachments, illegal parking, and the rising number of vehicles.
