Panic ensued on a Thursday evening aboard an IndiGo flight traveling from Lucknow to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, after a piece of paper with the word “Bomb” written on it was found inside the aircraft. As a precautionary measure, the flight made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad Airport. According to officials, IndiGo flight 6E97 landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 5:45 PM. Following the incident, passengers and crew members were immediately evacuated from the aircraft.
113 People Were On Board
According to the police, there were 107 passengers and 6 crew members on board the flight. A crew member discovered a piece of paper inside the aircraft bearing the word “Bomb.” Security agencies were subsequently informed, and the flight was immediately diverted to Ahmedabad. All passengers were safely evacuated, and necessary security protocols were carried out at the airport.
CISF and Police Initiate Investigation
After the flight landed, local police and CISF teams began a thorough search of the aircraft. Officials stated that no suspicious objects or explosive materials have been found during the search so far. Security agencies are investigating the matter and attempting to identify who placed the threatening message.
Similar Incident in the Past
It is worth noting that on August 31, an Air India Express flight traveling from Dammam to Delhi also had to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad. In that instance, a message claiming there was a bomb was found on a tissue paper. However, the threat turned out to be a hoax following an investigation.
