Kolkata Hotel Fire: Tragic news has emerged from Kolkata. A massive fire broke out at a hotel on Mirza Ghalib Street, resulting in the deaths of nine people due to burns. According to reports, the fire started after 2:00 AM. Most of the guests at the hotel were from border areas of Bangladesh and had come to Kolkata for medical treatment. After 3:00 AM, nine people were rescued from the scene and taken to Calcutta Medical College Hospital, where they were declared dead. The fire was brought under control after an effort lasting at least two hours.

Nine Dead; Fire Brought Under Control

It is reported that a massive fire in a G+4 (ground plus four-story) building on Mirza Ghalib Street claimed the lives of nine people, including six men, two women, and a child. Fire brigade sources stated that six other people were injured and have been hospitalized. Additionally, around 60 people were safely evacuated from the building without injury. Sources confirmed that the fire has been extinguished. Allegations have been raised that the hotel lacked adequate fire-fighting arrangements.

Cause of Fire Unclear
According to sources, the fire may have been caused by an air-conditioner explosion, although the exact cause has not yet been confirmed. Witnesses reported that several people lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation and were rushed to the hospital. The fire occurred near the New Market area, known as one of the city’s busiest and most densely populated localities. Preliminary information suggests a suspected AC explosion as the cause.
