Mukhtar Ansari’s Tragic End: What really Happened in the 3 Cases That Haunted Him? That Led to His Downfall and Demise

Mukhtar Ansari's Tragic End: According to the UP government, Mukhtar Ansari was convicted in 7 cases of murder and gangster charges and trial was going on against him in about 61 cases. Mukhtar was also a witness in one case.

Jailed Mafia Mukhtar Ansari’s Tragic End: Former Uttar Pradesh MLA and Mafia Mukhtar Ansari died in a hospital in Banda late night on March 28. According to doctors, he was brought here complaining of a heart attack. However, the family members are calling this death a conspiracy.

According to the UP government, Mukhtar Ansari was convicted in 7 cases of murder and gangster charges and trial was going on against him in about 61 cases. Mukhtar was also a witness in one case.

However, 3 cases proved to be the turning point in Mukhtar’s life. According to the police and the family, these 3 cases were the major reason for Mukhtar’s death in jail.

Let us know about these 3 cases –

1. Usri Chatti case, which the family is citing as the reason for the murder

There is a village in Mohammadabad assembly constituency of Ghazipur, Usri Chatti. In 2001, Mukhtar Ansari was attacked here during the panchayat elections. Mukhtar was the MLA of Mau at that time. 

Two people were killed in this attack. 7 people including Mukhtar were injured. Brijesh Singh gang was accused of the attack and was made an accused in the case. Currently the trial of this case is going on in the court and Mukhtar was to testify in it soon.

In September 2023, Mukhtar had given an application to the MP-MLA court. In this application, he had said that I should be given security, because the government does not want to allow testimony in the Usri Chatti case. 

Mukhtar’s brother and MP Afzal Ansari told to a TV channel- A conspiracy to kill Mukhtar was being hatched for a long time. The government wants to save Brijesh Singh and Tribhuvan Singh and Mukhtar could not have been saved if he was alive .

The family has demanded a high-level investigation into the entire matter. 

2. Mau riot case, due to which he went to jail and never came out

In 2005, Mukhtar Ansari went to jail because of the Mau riots. After this, Mukhtar was never able to come out of jail while he was alive. In the year 2005, there were incidents of communal violence between two communities in Mau city. Mukhtar was accused of the incident and the police sent him to jail.

The entire incident is as follows. In October 2005, there was a program of ‘Bharat Milaap’. During the program, there was a clash between two groups over the sound of speakers. This clash gradually took the form of violence. 8 Hindus and 7 Muslims were killed in this riot in Mau.

At that time, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of UP. The opposition surrounded Mulayam over the issue of law and order. As soon as the government came on the back foot, the police started tightening the noose against Mukhtar. 

Seeing the matter getting serious, Mukhtar surrendered himself. Later, the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI. After this, the police opened many cases against Mukhtar. Due to these cases, Mukhtar was shifted to 6 jails at different times. 

3. Mukhtar Ansari Was Jailed in Punjab From 2019 to 2021 for Laborer’s Murder; Returned to UP Afterwards

According to the report of that time, Ansari was living a luxurious life in jail there, but in the meantime he had to return to UP due to a case.

This case was – murder of 2 labourers in Azamgarh in 2014.

Regarding this case, UP Police had reached Punjab in 2021 to take Mukhtar. However, Punjab Police refused to hand him over, after which UP Police went to the Supreme Court. After a long hearing, the apex court sent Mukhtar to UP.

According to the police report, in 2014, there was a shootout in Tarwa village of Azamgarh over the road contract lease. Two labourers died in this shootout. Police made 12 people accused in the case.

Mukhtar was also made an accused in this case. Gangster Act was also imposed on him.
