Noida Yamuna Expressway Bus Fire: A sleeper bus suddenly caught fire late at night on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida. Within moments, the fire engulfed the entire bus. Nine people died in the incident, while several passengers suffered burns. Panic ensued among the passengers after the fire broke out, and many saved their lives by jumping out of the bus windows.
According to reports, the bus involved in the accident was traveling from Delhi to Mahoba. The bus bore the registration number BR32 PA8647 and belonged to Raj Kalpana Travels, a company that operates bus services to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. Following the accident, the process of identifying the deceased is underway.
Accident occurred near Dayanatpur village
The incident reportedly took place near Dayanatpur village on the Yamuna Expressway. Upon realizing the bus had caught fire, the driver stopped the vehicle on the expressway. The bus was full of passengers at the time. As the fire spread rapidly, a stampede-like situation arose, and many passengers saved themselves by jumping out of the windows.
Police and administrative teams arrived at the scene immediately after receiving news of the accident and initiated relief and rescue operations. Initial reports confirmed eight deaths by morning, a figure that later rose to nine.
Fire suspected to be caused by a short circuit
Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit as the cause of the fire. However, the exact cause is still being investigated.
The bus was completely gutted by the fire. The charred remains of the vehicle were visible at the scene the following morning.
15 passengers sent via another bus
About 15 passengers who survived the accident were sent to their destination in another vehicle. Arrangements were made to transport them to Mahoba in a different bus in the presence of the Jewar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
The administration is currently investigating the incident and gathering details regarding various aspects of the event, including the identification of the deceased.
