Pahalgam Terror Attack: Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed the biggest terror attack after the 2019 Pulwama attack. Terrorists opened fire on tourists on Tuesday, killing 26 people. The dead include a UAE and a Nepalese tourist and 2 local citizens. The rest of the tourists are from UP, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
The incident took place at around 2.45 pm on Tuesday afternoon in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam. According to media reports, the terrorists asked Shubham Dwivedi, who had come from UP, his name and then shot him in the head. Shubham had got married just two months ago. He had come here on his honeymoon.

The terrorists fired on other tourists and escaped. Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for the attack. The administration had said that there was one death in the terrorist attack, but about 4 hours later the news agency reported 26 deaths. More than 20 people are injured in the incident. After the incident, security forces have cordoned off the area of attack in Pahalgam. The area is also being monitored from helicopters.

- After the Pahalgam incident, an alert has been issued in Delhi, Mumbai and other cities.
- After the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Srinagar from Delhi. He is holding a high level meeting with army and administration officials at Raj Bhavan.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi and inquired about the situation.
- The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries has called for a Jammu bandh on Wednesday in protest against the Pahalgam attack.
- The NIA team will reach Pahalgam on Wednesday to investigate the attack.
