Asian Champions Trophy: India has won the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy for the second consecutive time and fifth time overall. India defeated China 1-0 in the final match held on Tuesday. The match was played at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir city of China. India remained undefeated in this tournament.
The only goal of the match was scored by Jugraj Singh in the 51st minute. China’s team could not score a goal even after four quarters. India got 4 penalty corners while China got 5. But both the teams could not convert them into goals. Earlier, in the match for the third place, Pakistan defeated South Korea 5-2.

The first quarter ended in a draw
The first quarter of the Asian Champions Trophy final between India and China ended in a draw. Indian players created many chances in the first quarter but China’s defenders and goalkeeper played brilliantly and didn’t let them convert into a goal. Abhishek Singh took a direct shot on the goal in the 8th minute. Here, China’s goalkeeper made a brilliant save.
Score in the second and third quarters 0-0
In the second and third quarters, neither India nor China could score a single goal. In the second quarter, China gave a tough fight to India. The Indian team got very few chances in this quarter, but they could not convert them into goals. China’s defenders faced the Indian attack strongly.
After this, the third quarter also remained goalless. In this quarter, the Chinese team played aggressively and created some chances, but the Indian defenders foiled their attempts.
Jugraj’s goal in the fourth quarter
In the final, the Indian hockey team scored the first goal in the fourth quarter and took a 1-0 lead over China. Jugraj Singh scored this goal for India in the 7th minute of the fourth quarter. Here captain Harmanpreet passed the ball to Abhishek, after which Jugraj scored a goal by deflecting inside the D.
In the 56th minute of the match, China removed its goalkeeper to equalize the Indian lead. But China failed to score. Jugraj’s goal proved to be the decider.
India is the most successful team
The Asian Champions Trophy started 13 years ago in 2011. The Indian hockey team is the defending champion of the Asian Champions Trophy. India has won the title five times and Pakistan three times. In 2021, South Korea won the title.
