Israel-Iran Tension: Amid the ongoing tension between Israel and Iran, Hezbollah fired Katyusha rockets at the Israeli army headquarters in northern Israel last night. Hezbollah is a Lebanon-based armed group, which is supported financially and militarily by Iran.
Important information related to the case:
- A Hezbollah statement confirmed a rocket attack on the headquarters of the 91st Division’s 3rd Infantry Brigade at the Ein Zeitim base, claiming to have launched “dozens” of Katyusha rockets.
- The attack was reportedly in response to Israeli incursions into southern Lebanese villages, including recent attacks on Srifa, Oudaiseh and Rab Tlattin, Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported.
- The Israeli military, in its response, confirmed about 35 rockets launched from Lebanon at the Ein Zeitim area, but did not report any casualties in the attack. The Israeli military retaliated by targeting the sources of the rocket fire.
- Since the beginning of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, the number of casualties has increased on both sides. According to data from news agency AFP, at least 376 people, mainly Hezbollah fighters, have been killed in Lebanon along with 70 civilians. On the other hand, 10 soldiers and eight civilians have been killed on the Israeli side.
- Tensions between Israel and Iran are running high, with Tehran issuing a stern warning in response to recent provocations. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani warned that any next “mistake” by Israel would be met with a “harsh and more decisive” response from Iran.
- Earlier, a member of the Amal Movement was killed and two others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a southern Lebanese village. This information was given by Lebanese military sources. According to a report by news agency Xinhua, sources said that Israeli forces carried out 12 airstrikes on 8 border towns and villages in southern Lebanon, in which 15 houses were destroyed and 25 others were damaged.
- Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters attacked Israeli sites in al-Malikiyah, Misgav Am, Jal al-Alam and the Doviv barracks, and said it shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone over the Lebanese village of Aichiyeh in the Jezzine district.
- The armed group said the Israeli drone was attacking locations in southern Lebanon. Both Hezbollah and the Amal Movement are Shia parties in Lebanon.
- Also, the Al-Qassam Brigades in Lebanon, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), claimed they bombed the Israeli “Shomera” barracks in the western sector of the Galilee region with 20 Grad missiles.
- Tensions escalated along the Lebanon-Israel border on October 8, 2023, after Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israel in solidarity with Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. Israel then retaliated by firing towards southeastern Lebanon.
