Pakistan train blast near Quetta kills 24, injures over 100 in deadly suicide attack

A deadly explosion near a railway track in Pakistan’s southwestern city of Quetta has claimed at least 24 lives and left more than 100 people injured.

The blast reportedly occurred near Chaman Phatak shortly after a train carrying military personnel and civilians departed from the Quetta cantonment area, causing panic and triggering a major emergency response.

According to initial reports, the attack involved a suicide vehicle-borne explosive device that struck near the moving train.

Several train coaches were damaged, and rescue workers rushed to the site to evacuate victims and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Emergency services and security personnel quickly secured the area as investigations began.

The militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, describing it as a “fidayeen” operation.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, where insurgent attacks targeting infrastructure and security forces have occurred repeatedly over the years.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation and intensified security measures across the region following one of the deadliest train-related attacks in recent months.
