Trump appeared before the court through video conferencing. 4 large screens were installed in the courtroom, Trump was seen on them during the sentencing. While delivering the verdict, Justice Marchen said, “I wish you success in your second term.”

The punishment given to Trump was merely symbolic, meaning that he will neither go to jail nor will he have to pay any fine. However, he will take oath as the US President as a convicted criminal, which will harm his image.

Justice Marchen told the court, “The right punishment would be to release Trump unconditionally without interfering with the powers of the highest office of this country (President).” Trump remained silent after hearing this and his screen turned off immediately.

The public prosecutor who convicted the American President – Alvin Bragg

According to NYT, for the first time in history, the feat of convicting an American President has been accomplished by prosecutor Alvin Bragg. A prosecutor is a public prosecutor who presents the case on behalf of the government. It is the prosecutor’s responsibility to frame charges against the suspected criminal (who was Trump in this case).

When the case reaches court, the prosecutor has to argue in favor of the charges and prove that a crime has been committed. According to the New York Times, this case put Alvin Bragg’s reputation as a public prosecutor at stake. Some people considered it a zombie case.

By bringing the case to its conclusion, Alvin has etched his name in American history. He is the first prosecutor whose arguments not only proved an American president guilty but also resulted in his conviction. After the hearing, Bragg said, ‘I have just done my job.’
