UK Election 2024: How many Indians are contesting elections in Britain, know about everyone

UK Election 2024: Voting for the general election has started in Britain. Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy have voted in the beginning. The biggest contest in this election is between Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak. There are more than 15 seats in Britain where people of the Indian community have a good hold. People of Indian origin are also in the fray to get a huge number of votes in the election. Talking about the Conservative Party, it has fielded many prominent British Indians in the electoral fray. These include the names of celebrities like Rishi Sunak himself, Priti Patel and Suella Braverman. 

These Indians are contesting elections in Britain

From Conservative Party

Dr. Neel Shastri is a healthcare law barrister and British Army officer. He is currently contesting from Solihull West and Shirley.
At the same time, Neil Mahapatra, founder of Kingsley Capital Partners, is contesting from Tunbridge Wells.
Uday Nagaraju, who is a relative of former Indian Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, is contesting from North Bedfordshire seat.
Kanishka Narayan is contesting from Vale of Glamorgan seat.
All of them are contesting from the Conservative Party.

From Labor Party

At the same time, if we talk about the Labor Party, it has also fielded 7 British Indians. Names like Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, Valerie Vaz and Seema Malhotra are included. Former Deputy Mayor of London Rajesh Agarwal is contesting from Leicester East from the Labor Party. Dr. Jeevun Sandher, who leads the economics team at the New Economics Foundation, is contesting from Loughborough.

Indian candidates are also contesting for smaller parties. Mohammed Hanif Ali is contesting from the Green Party and Anita Prabhakar from the Lib Dems. Dr Reva Goody, contesting from Feltham and Heston, is dedicated to Hindu cultural heritage.
