Ramayana Teaser VFX: A new controversy has erupted surrounding the film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Recently, several content creators—including Dhruv Parikshit, who makes videos about cinema—were invited to a ‘Creators Day’ event held on the film’s set. After visiting the set, Dhruv made a claim on social media that caused a stir online. He alleged that the filmmakers deliberately released a subpar version of the glimpse showing Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Ram’ to spark debate and criticism on social media, thereby generating free publicity and marketing for the film.
Experience on the Set and Conversation with a VFX Artist
Dhruv initially shared photos and videos of the visit on his Instagram. When a user asked in the comments section about the unfinished state of the Ramayana VFX, Dhruv responded by highly praising the film’s grandeur. He wrote that the scenes he witnessed were on par with the Hollywood film Avatar. He also revealed that he had met a VFX artist on the set. The artist told him that despite having superior visuals ready, the makers intentionally released an incomplete and weak video online because the resulting social media criticism serves as free marketing for the film.

The Truth Behind the Social Media Clarification and Deleted Comment
However, shortly after making this explosive claim, Dhruv deleted the comment. By Thursday, he had removed the original post and issued a fresh clarification, stating that excellent work is underway on the VFX. He explained that while he had been shown some unfinished footage on set, he believes the actual work was completed months ago. Praising the film’s character design and fantasy world, he described it as a fantastic theatrical experience. Although Dhruv removed his initial statement, screenshots of his original comment had already gone viral on social media.
Mixed Reactions to the First Teaser and the Release Date
Earlier this year, when the makers released the first glimpse of Ramayana—featuring Ranbir Kapoor’s look—the audience response was mixed. While the film’s grand scale and magnificence were appreciated, there was significant criticism regarding the lackluster CGI and the appearance of the demons. At the time, the team assured everyone that these shortcomings would be rectified before the release. Notably, the epic features Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, and Sunny Deol alongside Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles, and the first part of the film is set to hit theaters during Diwali 2026.
