Train Rules Update: If you regularly travel from railway stations in Chhattisgarh such as Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Champa, Korba, or Ambikapur, this update is important for you. The Ministry of Railways has implemented new rules expanding the powers of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Ticket Checking Staff (TTE). Now, instead of undergoing a lengthy legal process, fines can be imposed on the spot for rule violations within railway premises or on trains. These rules will apply to all railway stations and trains across the country, including Chhattisgarh, thereby strengthening discipline and safety.
Ministry of Railways Expands Powers of RPF and TTE
Under the new system implemented via the Jan Vishwas Act, RPF officers holding a rank above ASI are authorized to impose fines directly in several instances. Previously, such cases required filing an FIR or a formal case and presenting the accused before a magistrate; now, many minor infractions can be resolved on the spot. TTEs have also been granted additional powers. Their role will no longer be limited to ticket checking; they will now be able to take immediate action against those violating rules at railway stations and on trains.
New Rules to Apply at Chhattisgarh Railway Stations Too
These new regulations from the Ministry of Railways will be enforced at all railway stations and on trains across Chhattisgarh, just as they are nationwide. Consequently, passengers traveling from stations under the Raipur and Bilaspur railway divisions must pay close attention to these rules.
Immediate Fines for These Violations
Under the new rules, fines ranging from ₹500 to ₹10,000 may be imposed for offenses such as unauthorized entry into railway premises, crossing railway tracks, illegal vending, traveling in violation of rules in coaches reserved for women or persons with disabilities, smoking on station premises, littering, illegal parking, and traveling with prohibited items.
Minimum Fine Increased
The Ministry of Railways has raised the minimum fine for violating railway rules from ₹250 to ₹500. The government believes this measure will improve cleanliness, safety, and discipline within railway premises. Passengers to Benefit
Under the new system, passengers will not have to go through court proceedings or lengthy legal processes for minor offenses. The Railways states that this will effectively curb illegal activities and make travel safer and more organized at railway stations across the country, including in Chhattisgarh.
