NHAI’s new facility to launch soon in Rajasthan: Get a digital ‘Local Pass’ from home via the ‘RajmargYatra’ app and instant assistance in 22 languages through ‘MargMitra’.
There is welcome news for motorists traveling on national highways in Rajasthan and for local residents living within a 20-kilometer radius of toll plazas. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched two major digital features on its official ‘RajmargYatra’ mobile app, aligning with the ‘Digital India’ vision and prioritizing traveler convenience. These features include an online ‘Digital Local Pass’ and the ‘MargMitra’ help center. Initially launched at the Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza in Delhi, this high-tech digital ‘Local Pass’ facility will soon be implemented at all major toll plazas in Rajasthan, including those in Jaipur, Kota, and Ajmer. Once this new system is in place in Rajasthan, locals will no longer need to make repeated visits to toll plaza offices or submit physical documents to obtain a pass.
Get a ‘Local Toll Pass’ in 2 minutes from the comfort of your home
According to toll regulations, local residents living within a 20-kilometer radius of any national highway toll plaza are eligible for a ‘Local Pass,’ which allows for unlimited monthly travel at a concessional rate.
Previously, residents of Rajasthan had to physically visit the toll plaza office with their original Aadhaar card, Registration Certificate (RC), and proof of address to obtain or renew this pass. Now, however, the entire process can be completed online in just 2 to 3 minutes through the ‘RajmargYatra’ app’s new digital framework.
This facility has already been successfully rolled out in Delhi and will be fully activated at toll plazas across every district in Rajasthan—and the rest of the country—in the coming months. Online Verification in Minutes
NHAI’s new digital system integrates directly with government portals to prevent fraud and expedite the process:
Automated Data Fetching: The app is linked to the Government of India’s DigiLocker and VAHAN databases.
GIS Location Mapping: As soon as a user enters their vehicle number, the system automatically retrieves details regarding their address, Registration Certificate (RC), and FASTag. GIS mapping technology then instantly verifies whether the vehicle owner’s residence falls within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza.
Instant Approval: The e-local pass activates immediately upon the completion of verification and online payment.
‘MargMitra’ Help Center: Assistance Available in 22 Indian Languages
NHAI has also launched an intelligent digital help center named ‘MargMitra’ within the app to resolve highway users’ issues on the spot.
Highway users in Rajasthan can now ask questions—either by speaking or typing—in 22 Indian languages, including Hindi and English.
‘MargMitra’ will provide instant information regarding FASTag recharges, KYC, refund status, pass services, and FASTag blacklisting.
In the event of a highway accident, vehicle breakdown, or encroachment, users can lodge a complaint on the app accompanied by photos and location details. Complaint status can also be tracked in real-time.
Benefits for Lakhs of People in Rajasthan
Rajasthan is home to some of India’s most critical highway networks, including the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, as well as the Jaipur-Delhi, Jaipur-Ajmer, Deoli-Kota, and Bikaner-Jodhpur routes. Villagers, traders, and daily commuters living near toll plazas such as Kotputli, Behror, Shahjahanpur, Manoharpur, Dausa, Jaipur, and Kota will greatly benefit from this facility. This will not only save time and fuel at the toll plaza but also bring transparency to the entire process.
