New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain, thunderstorms, and lightning across several states today, September 24. Adverse weather conditions are expected in areas ranging from Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
According to the Meteorological Department, wind speeds could reach 70 to 75 kmph in some areas. There is also a likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of Eastern India. People have been advised to exercise caution due to the inclement weather.
Rain and Strong Winds in Delhi-NCR
A spell of rain and strong winds is likely to continue in the capital, Delhi, between September 24 and 26. Wind speeds in Delhi today could range from 25 to 30 kmph. People are advised to avoid open spaces and areas near trees during the rain.
Storms and Rain in Several UP Districts
Strong winds accompanied by rain are expected in various parts of Uttar Pradesh today. Weather conditions are likely to be affected in districts including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Ballia, Raebareli, and Sonbhadra. Wind speeds could reach 60 to 65 kmph in some areas.
Rain Alert for Bihar and Jharkhand
Heavy rainfall is predicted for several districts in Bihar, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Supaul, and Araria. Additionally, the impact of rain and strong winds may be seen in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, and Giridih districts.
Risk of Landslides in Hill States
Heavy rainfall in several districts of Uttarakhand could increase the risk of landslides in hilly areas. Warnings for rain and strong winds have also been issued for Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, and Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is also expected in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Residents of hilly areas and travelers have been advised to exercise caution in light of the weather conditions.

Strong winds accompanied by heavy rainfall are likely in several areas across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Wind speeds in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha could reach 70 to 75 kilometers per hour.
