DC vs CSK IPL 2024: Dhoni’s Explosive Innings in Vain as Delhi Capitals Beat Chennai Super Kings by 20 Runs for First Win of the Season

IPL 2024, DC vs CSK: Dhoni played a brilliant innings of 37* runs for Chennai. However, Chennai had to face defeat by 20 runs in the match. With this match, Delhi's losing streak also ended.

DC vs CSK IPL 2024: MS Dhoni hit a four on the first ball as soon as he came and tried his best to make the team win. But the batsmen who came before Dhoni had increased the run rate a lot. Dhoni played an innings of 37* runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes in 16 balls. The team could not win with this, but the fans were very happy. If Dhoni had come one number earlier, the result of the match could have been different. The rhythm he was seen in was worth watching. Chennai had to face defeat by 20 runs in the match. 

Batting first in match number 13 of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals put 191/5 runs on the board in 20 overs. David Warner played the biggest innings of 52 runs for the team. Apart from this, captain Rishabh Pant scored 51 runs. Then Chennai Super Kings, who came out to chase the target, could only reach a score of 171/6 in 20 overs. Rahane played the biggest innings of 45 runs for the team. Apart from this, Dhoni, who came at number eight, won the hearts of the fans.

Chasing a target of 192 runs, Chennai Super Kings had a very bad start. The team lost its first wicket in the form of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (01) in the very first over. Then in the third over, Rachin Ravindra returned to the pavilion after scoring just 2 runs in 12 balls. Both the openers were made victims by Khalil Ahmed. After this, Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell shared a 68 (45 balls) run partnership for the third wicket, which ended with Mitchell’s wicket in the 11th over. Mitchell played an innings of 34 runs in 26 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes. 

After this, Chennai got the fourth blow in the form of Ajinkya Rahane on the third ball of the 14th over. Rahane played an innings of 45 runs in 30 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

After Rahane, Mukesh Kumar sent Sameer Rizvi to the pavilion on a golden duck on the very next ball. In this way, Chennai lost the 5th wicket on a score of 102 runs in 13.4 overs.

Then the team got the sixth blow in the form of Shivam Dubey in the 17th over. Dubey played an innings of 18 (17 balls) runs with the help of 1 four.

After this, former team captain MS Dhoni came to the crease. Dhoni played an innings of 37* runs. During this, Ravindra Jadeja, who was present with him at the other end, scored 21* runs in 17 balls with the help of 2 fours.
