The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will provide scanned copies of answer sheets to students through DigiLocker from next year, officials have confirmed. The move is part of a broader push to strengthen transparency in the evaluation process as the board expands its on-screen marking (OSM) system.
Officials said the initiative is designed to give students direct access to their evaluated answer scripts digitally. They also defended the implementation of the OSM system and the selection of Telangana-based firm Coempt Edu Teck for the contract, stating the decision followed a standard quality-and-cost based bidding process.
CBSE awarded the OSM contract on December 5, 2025, after the company emerged as the lowest financial bidder. While acknowledging reported technical glitches and around 20 cases of answer sheet mismatches, officials said such errors can occur even in manual evaluation systems given the large scale of nearly 9.8 million answer books processed.
The board has said it is investigating the issues and may impose penalties as per contract terms, while working to make the system more reliable and “glitch-free.”
