Bharat Ratna: Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani will be given Bharat Ratna. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced this by tweeting on Saturday. Recently, Karpoori Thakur, the Chief Minister of Bihar and a prominent leader of Other Backward Classes, was posthumously selected for Bharat Ratna.
The PM said that he also made his mark as Home Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister. His parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary and full of rich insights. Advani ji’s decades-long service in public life has been marked by an unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity, which has set an exemplary standard in political ethics.
He has made excellent efforts towards furthering national unity and cultural revival. It is a very emotional moment for me to honor him with Bharat Ratna. I will always consider it my good fortune that I have had countless opportunities to learn from him.

Recently, Karpoori Thakur, the Chief Minister of Bihar and a prominent leader of Other Backward Classes, was posthumously selected for Bharat Ratna. Bharat Ratna Award is the highest civilian award of India, which was first given to former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in the year 1954.
Bharat Ratna is given to those who have done extraordinary work in fields like public service, literature, science and art. Maximum 3 people are honored with Bharat Ratna Award in a year. This award is given by the President of India.
