New Aadhaar Update Rule for Chhattisgarh: Big relief for residents! Now, you can update your name and address on your Aadhaar card from the comfort of your home; find out the cost.

New Aadhaar Update Rule in Chhattisgarh: There is welcome news for citizens in Chhattisgarh seeking to amend details—such as name, address, age, or other essential information—on their Aadhaar cards. People will no longer need to rely solely on Aadhaar Seva Kendras for major changes or travel to other cities to have name changes published in the official gazette. The state government has introduced a new system on the ‘Seva Setu’ portal to digitize this process.

Under this new system, citizens can submit applications for Aadhaar card amendments (such as name or other details) via the Seva Setu portal. Applications must be submitted online through the e-District portal. This reduces the need for repeated visits to government offices and allows applicants to track the status of their applications online.

Fee of ₹430 to be Paid

As per the new provision, applicants must submit a State Bank of India (SBI) challan of ₹430 along with their online application. Previously, major changes to names or surnames required a gazette publication process, which entailed additional time and expense for citizens.

ARN Number Issued After Application

Upon submitting the online application, the applicant will receive an ARN (Application Reference Number). This number enables applicants to track their application status online, allowing them to monitor the application’s progress and the stage of processing reached.

Preliminary Document Verification by Tehsildar

Once the application and necessary documents are submitted on the portal, the concerned Tehsildar will conduct a preliminary verification. Following this verification, the application will be forwarded to the SDM. After confirmation at the SDM level, the file will be sent to the Government Press for publication in the official gazette.

Digital Gazette Copy Available Online

Once the name change or relevant information is published in the gazette, a digital copy will be made available online. This eliminates the need for the applicant to visit a government office specifically to collect the document. The status of the application and documents can also be viewed through the portal.

Resolution Within 29 Working Days

The government has also established a timeframe for this entire process. According to the guidelines, applications related to Aadhaar amendments must be resolved within 29 working days. The fixed timeframe will help streamline the application process.

What documents are required for the application?

When applying online, applicants must upload documents related to the name change to the portal. These include a notice of the name change published in a local newspaper, a document bearing the names and signatures of two witnesses, a notarized affidavit on ₹50 stamp paper, and necessary identity-related documents.

How will citizens benefit?

The new online system aims to simplify the process for major Aadhaar updates and name changes. Facilities such as submitting applications online, tracking application status, and obtaining a digital copy of the gazette notification will now be available. This will save citizens’ time and reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices.
