Digital Filth or Free Speech: The Rising Digital Filth and Its Impact on Society

A major controversy has erupted recently over obscene and vulgar content on digital platforms. YouTubers like Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and Apoorva Makheeja have sparked outrage on social media due to their objectionable remarks in a show. This issue is not limited to just one show or a few YouTubers; rather, it represents a broader cultural decline and the increasing filth in digital spaces.
The critical question is: Can the spread of vulgarity in society be justified in the name of freedom of expression?

The Surge of Obscenity in Digital Space

While the internet and social media platforms have opened new avenues for expression, they have also become a space where individuals freely disseminate content without any social accountability. The use of vulgarity under the guise of comedy and entertainment raises significant concerns.

Over the past few years, there has been a flood of obscene and vulgar content in digital media. This is not just about entertainment; it negatively influences society, misguides young minds, and erodes family and social values.

Entertainment or Social Decline?

What should be the definition of entertainment? Should it be limited to humor and satire, or should it come with a moral responsibility? In the modern digital age, some YouTubers and content creators have created an environment where open use of profanity, obscenity, and crude dialogues is being presented as entertainment. This is not amusement; it is mental pollution.

It is undeniable that there is a demand for such content, as there are audiences who consume it. However, this does not mean that platforms and major organizers should encourage such filth. When such creators are invited to prominent shows and given a platform, it legitimizes obscenity.

Responsibility of Major Platforms and Public Figures

Another crucial aspect of this debate is how major media platforms and well-known personalities are promoting such content. For instance, if a prestigious show invites YouTubers known for using offensive language and vulgarity, it sends the wrong message to society. It inspires young individuals who are willing to cross any limits just for views and fame.

Senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan, if they invite such controversial personalities to their shows, also have a moral responsibility to evaluate whom they are promoting. As digital content evolves rapidly, neglecting its quality could have detrimental consequences for society.

The Role of Society and Government

Both the government and society must step up to address this issue. The government should enforce strict regulations to monitor and take action against digital creators spreading vulgarity. Parents must also be vigilant about their children’s digital activities.

Media platforms must realize that prioritizing views and likes over content quality will lead to a severe moral decline in society. If digital content is treated merely as a business, the ethical fabric of society will inevitably suffer.

No Acceptance for the Spread of Vulgarity

Freedom of expression is a fundamental democratic right, but it does not give anyone the license to spread moral decay in society. Digital platforms and mainstream media institutions must acknowledge their ethical responsibility and refrain from promoting such content. Our duty is to encourage healthy entertainment, not normalize vulgarity and indecency.

The government must also take strict measures to curb this digital virus before it spreads further. It is time to reassess our digital priorities and work towards building a more cultured and responsible society.
