DTC to launch special bus service for Delhi govt employees

The Delhi Transport Corporation will launch special bus services for Delhi government employees to improve office commute connectivity and promote the use of public transport.

The initiative comes as the Delhi government intensifies efforts to reduce fuel consumption amid global energy concerns linked to the ongoing West Asia situation.

According to officials, the special DTC buses will connect Delhi Administration Flats with nearby metro stations and the Delhi Secretariat in line with office timings.

The buses will operate during morning and evening peak hours, with services running from 9 am onwards and return services between 5 pm and 8 pm. Around 54 buses will be deployed under the special arrangement.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had earlier launched the 90-day ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ fuel-saving campaign, which includes two-day work-from-home provisions for Delhi government employees and encourages greater use of public transport.

The bus routes will cover several government residential colonies and major areas including CWG Village, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash, Model Town, Mayur Vihar, Dwarka and Timarpur.

Officials said employees travelling via the Blue Line Metro can deboard at Indraprastha Metro Station and use dedicated DTC shuttle services to reach the Delhi Secretariat.

Additionally, DEVI electric buses will operate during peak office hours between Indraprastha Metro Station, Bharat Mandapam, Supreme Court, ITO, Delhi Gate and Delhi Secretariat.

The government has urged employees to make maximum use of the newly introduced transport facilities as part of the broader fuel conservation initiative.
