ED raids AAP leader Deepak Singla residence in money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Deepak Singla after conducting raids at his residence in connection with an alleged bank fraud case.

The action triggered a political confrontation, with senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi accusing the BJP-led Centre of attempting to access the party’s internal organisational data through the raids.

According to reports, the ED conducted searches linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities. Officials said Singla was taken into custody following the searches carried out earlier in the day.

Reacting sharply to the development, Atishi alleged that the action was politically motivated and aimed at intimidating AAP workers amid the party’s growing presence in Goa and other states. She claimed the raids were an attempt to “steal organisational data” belonging to the party.

Deepak Singla has previously held key organisational responsibilities within AAP and has also served as the party’s in-charge for Goa. Earlier raids linked to Singla had been conducted in 2024 in connection with separate investigations.

The latest ED action has once again intensified the ongoing political tussle between the BJP and the AAP leadership over the use of central investigative agencies against opposition leaders.
