The court said that the credibility of NTA has been questioned, so we want an answer. The court has also refused to stop the counseling.

A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah heard the petition seeking cancellation of NEET exam. The petitions seeking cancellation of NEET exam and re-conducting of the paper have been filed by Shivangi Mishra and nine other petitioners. They say that the paper of this year’s NEET exam has been leaked and irregularities have been observed in it. The opposition is also raising its voice and demanding an investigation into the alleged rigging in the NEET exam.

The petitioner argued that transparency was not maintained in the entire matter and we want an answer regarding this. On this, the court said that we issue a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and seek a reply and the next hearing of the case will be held on July 8 after receiving the reply.

In fact, in the petition filed in the Supreme Court, it was alleged that there was rigging in NEET-UG 2024 and there have been many cases of question paper leak.

A new petition against NEET result was also mentioned

During the hearing, lawyer J Sai Deepak mentioned a new petition challenging the NEET result. On this, Justice Vikram Nath asked him to mention the petition before the registry and also told that it will be sent through the Chief Justice. In response, the lawyer said that NEET counseling is about to start and the related petition is listed for hearing today. However, Justice Vikram Nath made it clear that the petition should be mentioned before the registry only.

Question raised on the credibility of NTA: Supreme Court

Justice Amanullah said that credibility has been questioned, so we need a reply from the respondents. Justice Nath further said that notice is being issued and in the meantime NTA will have to file a reply. Let the counseling start, we are not going to stop it.

The Supreme Court issued a notice on the petition to cancel the NEET UG exam over the alleged paper leak and sought a reply from the NTA. It also said that now the matter will be heard on July 8. The bench told the NTA that the credibility has been affected, so we want an answer.

What have the students alleged?

The National Testing Agency released the results of NEET UG-2024 exam on June 4 and 67 students are toppers in it. Regarding this, the students have alleged that there has been widespread rigging in the result. Apart from this, the students said that the first 7 students come from the same center in Haryana. Other opposition parties including Congress are also cornering the central government over the matter.

What did Congress say ?

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that this year earlier there was news of paper leak, which was suppressed. Now many candidates of medical entrance exam NEET have alleged that the marks of students have been increased.

Meanwhile, in this matter, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had recently said that paper leak, rigging and corruption have become an integral part of many examinations including NEET. The central government is directly responsible for this. For the candidates, participating in recruitment examinations, then facing many irregularities, getting caught in the labyrinth of paper leak, is playing with their future.

What did NTA say?

NTA has denied the allegations of irregularities and said that the reason for getting more marks is due to changes in the textbooks made by NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) and grace marks given to make up for the time wasted in the examination center.

Recently, NTA informed that the Ministry of Education has constituted a four-member committee to review the results of more than 1,500 candidates who got grace marks.
