PM Modi Received Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Award: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Bhutan. During this visit, he was awarded Bhutan’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’. Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck honoured PM Modi with this honour. PM Modi is the first foreign head of state to receive this honour.Â
During this, a statement was issued by Bhutan saying that PM Modi is an excellent embodiment of regional and global leadership. Under his leadership, India has become the world’s fastest growing economy and will be the third largest economy by 2030.
Bhutan said, PM Modi’s Neighbourhood First policy has strengthened South Asia and paved the way for collective progress. It is an honour for Bhutan that a politician of such stature is a true friend of the Bhutanese people. Prime Minister Modi is a firm supporter of Bhutan’s national vision of achieving self-reliance and becoming a developed nation. Prime Minister Modi’s friendship and support to all Bhutan’s objectives and initiatives have made our relations stronger than ever.
Prime Minister Modi has been given this award for his contribution to the development of India-Bhutan relations, his distinguished service to the Bhutanese nation and its people. After receiving the award, Modi said in a post on social media platform X, I am honored to be awarded the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’ by Bhutan. I dedicate this to 140 crore Indians.Â
