CAA is for social polarization- Jairam Ramesh

Regarding CAA, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in Surat, Gujarat on Tuesday that it is absolutely for social polarization. This is being brought in view of the Assam and West Bengal elections. Efforts will be made to take advantage of this in both the states. BJP’s issues are divisive and political dictatorship is visible in them. It took four years and three months to make this law.

Tribal areas of North-East out of the scope of CAA

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) 2019 will not be implemented in most tribal areas of the northeastern states, including areas granted special status under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. This law came into effect on Monday. According to the law, it will not be implemented in all the northeastern states where people living in other parts of the country require ‘Inner Line Permit’ (ILP) to travel. ILP is applicable in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur. Officials quoted the rules and said that the tribal areas where autonomous councils have been formed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution have also been kept out of the purview of the CAA. There are such autonomous councils in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Owaisi said – Sanghis first fell in love with the watchman, now perhaps they have given their heart to the scrap dealer

After the release of CAA notification, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said through X Post – Sanghis did not get two crore jobs but they are fond of standing in queues with papers. In the year 2019, she fell in love with a watchman and now perhaps she has given her heart to the junkman. Whenever I see you, they keep asking for papers.

All India Muslim Jamaat welcomed CAA law

After the release of CAA notification, All India Muslim Jamaat President Maulana Shahabuddin Rajavi Barelvi has welcomed this decision of the government. He said that the Government of India has implemented the CAA law and we welcome it. This should have been implemented earlier. He further said that there are many misconceptions among the Muslim community regarding this law. This law has nothing to do with the Muslim community.

Background…….

CAA Rules Notification: CAA notification has notified before the schedule of Lok Sabha elections 2024. When its notification was issued by the NDA government on March 11, 2024, the opposition made it a big issue. From Congress to Aam Aadmi Party and Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMI tried to corner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue. Someone said that this announcement is just an attempt to ‘grab headlines’ after the Supreme Court’s strictness on the issue of electoral bonds, while another leader called it a divisive and harmful move with purely communal motives. However, there is talk in the political circles that this could prove to be a big masterstroke for Modi-BJP.

The Center on Monday announced the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA)-2019. Four years after the controversial law was passed, the Centre’s move paves the way for granting citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014. With the release of CAA rules, now Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government will start giving Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim immigrants (Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians) from these three countries. Union Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled another commitment and has fulfilled the promise of the makers of the Constitution.

CAA was passed by Parliament in the year 2019

“These rules, called the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024, will enable persons eligible under CAA-2019 to apply for grant of Indian citizenship,” a Home Ministry spokesperson said. The applications will be submitted completely in online mode for which a web portal has been made available. No documents will be asked from the applicants, an official said.

This has nothing to do with the citizenship of Indians

The CAA was passed in the Parliament in December 2019 and later it got the assent of the President, but protests against it started in many parts of the country. This law could not be implemented till now as the rules for its implementation were yet to be notified. These rules will now enable minorities persecuted on religious grounds in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to obtain citizenship in our country.
