Announcing his retirement, Ashwin said, “This is my last day as an Indian cricketer in all three formats of international cricket. I feel that I still have the qualities of a cricketer left in me, but those skills of mine will now be seen in club-level cricket. This is my last day in the Indian cricket team and I enjoyed this long journey. I shared good memories with Rohit Sharma and all the other teammates.”

Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from international cricket. He played 287 matches in all three formats and took 765 wickets. Ashwin is India’s second-highest wicket-taker. Only Anil Kumble is ahead of him, who has taken 953 wickets. Ashwin announced his retirement as soon as the Gaba Test ended. BCCI also tweeted about his retirement.

Rohit Sharma said-
Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in the press conference, when I came to Perth, Ashwin told me about retirement. If a player takes a decision, it should be respected. He told that Ashwin will return to India tomorrow.

14 years, 765 wickets and 4394 runs

R Ashwin made his international debut in 2010 playing a T20 match against Zimbabwe. He has established a legacy as a great bowler. In his international career, he represented India in 287 matches. As a bowler, he took 765 wickets in international cricket. He is the second highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket after Anil Kumble. Kumble took 956 wickets in all three formats in his career.

Ashwin also made a name for himself as an all-rounder. He scored 3,503 runs in Test cricket including 6 centuries and 14 fifties. He will especially be recognized as a Test legend.
