State-owned telecom company BSNL has launched a satellite phone that has generated significant interest. Its standout feature is the ability to function without a standard cellular network; this means you can make calls using the BSNL satellite phone even if there is no network coverage in your area. Designed for use in challenging conditions, it provides voice call and SMS services in remote areas where conventional mobile networks do not reach. In a social media post announcing the price, BSNL stated, “When standard mobile networks fail, the BSNL satellite phone keeps you connected. Designed for difficult situations, this phone is an excellent solution for defense, maritime operations, disaster relief, mining, remote operations, and adventure travel.”
BSNL Satellite Phone Features
The BSNL satellite phone is a robust device. The company has introduced it under the theme “Communication Beyond Boundaries.” Its key advantage is its ability to operate in areas lacking mobile towers or where the network has completely collapsed due to natural disasters or other reasons. Since it connects directly to a satellite, it does not rely on standard mobile networks, making communication in remote areas highly convenient. The phone is built to be durable, easily withstanding exposure to water and dust.
Who Can Use It?
BSNL has stated that the launch of this satellite phone is part of an effort to expand satellite communication services for users in sectors such as defense, maritime operations, and disaster relief. Designed for challenging environments, it offers voice call and SMS capabilities in remote locations inaccessible to standard mobile networks. In other words, this phone is not intended for the general public; rather, it is a specialized solution designed for defense, maritime, disaster relief, mining, remote operations, and adventure travel.
