Weather Update: 114 roads have been closed in Himachal Pradesh due to several incidents of cloudburst in the past day. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the state till August 7 and has issued a yellow alert. According to officials, 79 people have died in rain, floods and landslides between June 27 and August 1.
Cloudbursts occurred several times in Kullu, Mandi and Shimla. On the night of 31 July, 9 people died in Rampur. 45 people are missing, whose search is ongoing. 410 rescue workers are engaged in the rescue operation. Drones are also being used to search for people.
Himachal government minister Vikramaditya has said that information has come to light about the death of 50 people in cloudburst incidents. However, this has not been confirmed. Rescue operations are on and bodies are being searched.

Himachal Pradesh: Immediate relief of 50 thousand rupees to flood affected people
Minister Vikramaditya said that Rs 50,000 will be given to flood-affected families as immediate relief. The compensation amount will be increased later. Rs 5,000 per month will be provided for rent, food and other essential items for the next 3 months.
Army, NDRF, SDRF, Himachal Police are jointly conducting rescue operations to rescue people. The state’s Road Transport Corporation has stopped bus services on 82 routes.
Bailey bridges are being built to reach the landslide and flood-prone areas. The Army has launched a rescue operation in Samej village. According to the Army, a landslide has occurred about 2.5 KM before the incident spot. Due to this, it is difficult to reach the incident spot. Army personnel are moving forward on foot. More than 30 people are missing in Samej village alone.
Uttarakhand: Rescue operation continues in Kedarnath for the fourth day, 15 people dead
Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that so far 9099 people have been rescued from different areas of the Kedarnath Yatra route. 7234 passengers were rescued on August 2 and 1865 passengers were rescued on August 3.
On August 3, 43 pilgrims were airlifted from Kedarnath. A total of 495 pilgrims were airlifted from Linchauli and Bhimbali. 90 pilgrims from Bhimbali-Linchauli reached Chaumasi-Kalimath on foot, all of them are safe. 1162 pilgrims reached Sonprayag safely from Gaurikund. 75 pilgrims were airlifted from Chidbasa (Gaurikund) and taken to safe places. 1000 pilgrims are still stranded, their rescue is going on. 15 people have died due to heavy rains on July 31.
NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in rescue operations. Passengers are being airlifted using Air Force’s Chinook and MI-17 helicopters. 83 NDRF, 168 SDRF, DDRF and PRD, 126 Uttarakhand Police Department and 35 Fire Brigade personnel are deployed in different areas.
Teams of PWD department are engaged in opening the blocked roads. 882 employees of other departments including Health Department, Revenue Department are engaged in rescue work. The district administration has issued two helpline numbers 7579257572 and 01364-233387 and an emergency number 112.
Red-orange alert in Maharashtra, bridge collapses in Jharkhand
The weather department has issued a red alert for Palghar, Pune, Satara in Maharashtra for Sunday (August 4). It has also issued an orange alert for Thane, Nashik, Mumbai, Raigad, Sindhudurg.
On Saturday, a 21-year-old youth was swept away while crossing a river in Palghar. His friend somehow managed to save his life. Officials said that the search for the youth is on. Also, officials have advised people not to go near rivers, drains, sea, waterfalls, ponds.
The Dhende Ghat bridge connecting Lalpania and Dumri Bihar station in Bokaro district of Jharkhand collapsed on Saturday morning. Bhauri Lal Prajapati (60) went missing after the bridge collapsed. Prajapati was crossing the bridge when its middle slab collapsed. The team is engaged in searching for the elderly man.
On the other hand, the weather department has issued a red alert for rain in 4 districts of Madhya Pradesh and an orange alert in 10 districts on Sunday. A house collapsed due to rain in a village in Narsinghpur, MP. A 3-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy sleeping in the house died in the accident. 5 people are injured. On Saturday also the gates of many big dams of the state were opened. These include the dams built on Bargi, Tawa and Umaria Johila river.
There is a possibility of light rain in Delhi today. Due to the rain in the past few days, waterlogging still persists in many areas of Delhi. Trees also fell in Rohini area. However, no one was injured.
The situation is bad due to floods in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu. Here the Kaveri river is flowing above the danger mark. CM MK Stalin has said that 11 relief camps have been set up in the district. More than 1 thousand people have been kept in them.
