IMD Weather Update: Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR today; torrential rain alert for 11 states, including UP and Bihar.

IMD Weather Update: The monsoon has become active across the country. The Meteorological Department has forecast significant rainfall over the next 24 hours in 11 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Additionally, several districts are expected to experience strong winds reaching speeds of 85 to 90 km/h alongside the rain. According to the department, a weather system is currently active over the Bay of Bengal, leading to good rainfall in northwestern Indian states as well. The monsoon could intensify significantly in Eastern India over the next 3 to 4 days. Significant rainfall is also likely in hilly states within the next few hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) states that a cyclonic circulation is currently forming, creating conditions favorable for heavy rain. Lightning strikes could also wreak havoc in several states.

Three Active Monsoon Systems
Three monsoon systems are currently active across the country, resulting in heavy rainfall in several states. A ‘Red Alert’ for rain has been issued for the Gujarat region and central Maharashtra. Similarly, an ‘Orange Alert’ is in place for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and Goa. Meanwhile, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Rain Alert for Delhi-NCR
Good rainfall is also expected in Delhi-NCR today. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain and thunderstorms, with wind speeds likely to reach 60–70 km/h. However, there has been no significant change in temperature so far; the rainfall has not matched the extent of cloud cover. Intermittent rain has occurred in various parts of Delhi-NCR over the last 24 hours, with temperatures hovering around 39°C. Consequently, the region continues to experience humid, sultry heat. Some relief from this humidity may be felt if it rains in the coming hours.
