Weather Alert: The monsoon is currently very active across large parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, this spell of intense rainfall is expected to continue for the next 3 to 4 days. A warning for torrential rain has been issued for several parts of the country today, July 22. The department predicts strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 60 kmph during the rainfall. There is a risk of landslides in mountainous regions and conditions resembling waterlogging and flooding in the plains.
According to the Meteorological Department’s report, states issued an alert for torrential rain on July 22 include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana (including Delhi-NCR), Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, and the Northeastern states (such as Assam and Meghalaya).

In Delhi-NCR, the sky will remain cloudy today (July 22), and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is likely. However, the weather is expected to clear up slightly starting July 23.
Most parts of Uttar Pradesh—including Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj, and Kaushambi—will experience intermittent heavy rainfall until July 27.
An alert for strong storms and heavy rain has been issued for several districts in Bihar, including Patna, Rohtas, and Nawada. This could lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in some areas.
A ‘Red Alert’ for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for regions in Himachal Pradesh such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi.
Meanwhile, an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall has been issued for several districts in Uttarakhand—including Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, and Champawat—between July 22 and 27. Thunderstorms are also likely during this period.
Flood-like conditions prevail in several areas of Jammu & Kashmir. The Meteorological Department has issued a continuous rainfall alert until July 24 and advised people to remain cautious.
The monsoon has returned to Rajasthan after a brief hiatus. Rainfall is expected between July 22 and 26 across most areas of the Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner divisions.
The monsoon has become active once again in Madhya Pradesh. Rain is likely in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar, Agar Malwa, Rajgarh, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Bhopal, Bairagarh, Nabibagh, Raisen, Bhimbetka, Sanchi, Narmadapuram, Pachmarhi, Hoshangabad, and Narsinghpur.
An alert for heavy rain has been issued for several locations in Punjab today; strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms are also likely during this period.
A rainfall warning is in place for most parts of Odisha from today until July 27.
Rain alerts have been issued for several districts in Jharkhand today. Rainfall is expected in Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, West Singhbhum, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Sahibganj, Palamu, Garhwa, and other districts.
