Monsoon Arrival: Monsoon to enter Delhi in 2 days! Heavy rain alert in 14 states including UP, Punjab| know Weather Update for 5 days

Monsoon Arrival: The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heat wave in most states of the country in the coming days. In such a situation, people of many states including Delhi, Punjab and Haryana can get relief from the heat.

Monsoon Arrival: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there may be relief from the heat in the coming days. There will be no heatwave in most of the states of the country. The IMD on Wednesday (June 26, 2024) forecast that heavy to very heavy rains are likely over the western peninsular coast during the next 3-4 days.

The IMD said that Maharashtra coast, Goa and Karnataka may receive heavy rainfall during this period. Heavy rains are also expected in the states of Northeast India including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim between June 27 and June 30. 

At the same time, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at many places in North West India during 28 to 30 June. There is a possibility of rain in western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Apart from this, an alert has been issued for heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm) rain at different places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 27 and 28 June. Monsoon is also progressing slowly. 

Where and when will the monsoon reach?

The Meteorological Department said that the monsoon may reach the remaining parts of Gujarat, the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, the remaining areas of West Bengal, the remaining areas of Jharkhand, Bihar, the remaining areas of Rajasthan, eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Uttar Pradesh in the next three to four days. 

When will the monsoon reach Delhi? 

According to Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather Services, “The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on 29 or 30 June.” The monsoon usually arrives in Delhi between 27 and 29 June. 

Where did the monsoon reach?

The southwest monsoon reached Nicobar on 19 May. This time the monsoon reached Kerala two days earlier, i.e. on 30 May and covered many states. Then the monsoon stayed for 6 days from 12 to 18 June. The monsoon entered Maharashtra on 6 June and entered Gujarat on 11 June.

By June 12, the monsoon had fully covered Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It had also reached most parts of South Maharashtra, parts of South Chhattisgarh, South Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and all the northwestern states.

By June 18, the monsoon had reached Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur in Maharashtra, Bijapur, Sukma in Chhattisgarh, Malkangiri in Odisha and Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh. However, the monsoon stalled after this. On June 21, the monsoon reached Madhya Pradesh via Dindori and advanced to Gujarat on June 23.

On 25 June, the monsoon entered Rajasthan and covered more than half of Madhya Pradesh. On the night of 25 June, the monsoon entered Uttar Pradesh via Lalitpur. On 26 June, the monsoon advanced into MP and UP.

For the sixth time in 10 years, June rainfall is less than normal

Not only is rainfall decreasing in the first month of monsoon, but hot days are also increasing. According to the Meteorological Department, 4 days are left for June to end and till now the country has received 19% less rainfall than normal. This is happening for the third consecutive year. In 10 years, June rainfall has been less than normal six times, normal once and more than normal thrice.

M. Rajeevan, former secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, says that in June, the monsoon was stuck for 20 days in West Bengal and for two weeks in Gujarat-Maharashtra. According to the Center for Science and Environment, during 1988 to 2018, 62% of the districts received less rainfall in June.

No heat wave alert in any state today

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no heat wave alert in any state of the country on Thursday. On Wednesday, the temperature of many places in six states of the country – Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand was recorded between 40 to 43 degrees. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan was the hottest in the country for the third consecutive day with a temperature of 45.4 degrees. The temperature here was 45.4 degrees on Tuesday as well. The temperature here was 45 degrees on Monday.
