Mamata vs Striking Doctors: The tension between the junior doctors protesting against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital and the Mamata government of the state is increasing with each passing day. The Mamata government has taken the initiative to talk to the protesting doctors several times, but the doctors sitting on protest seemed ready to talk only on their own terms. As a result, no talks are taking place between these doctors and the state government even after several attempts. On the other hand, the patients are now bearing the brunt of the lack of consensus between the protesting doctors and the state government regarding talks. Health services are being affected due to the doctors’ protest.Â

Where is the matter stuck after all
On Saturday evening, the news came that the Mamata government and the protesting doctors are ready to talk. But even after this, there was no conversation between the two sides. In such a situation, it is important to know where this conversation is stuck. Actually, the state government is well aware of the fact that the doctors’ protest is having a bad effect on health services. In such a situation, if the protesting doctors do not return to work in time, then this problem can increase further. On the other hand, the protesting doctors are also adamant on demanding their security and demanding the harshest punishment for the accused in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in the hospital by doing RG.
CM Mamata Banerjee had invited the protesting doctors for talks on Saturday evening as well. A delegation of doctors had also reached the CM residence. But their demand was that they would go to the CM residence for talks only if the entire conversation would be live-streamed. The protesting doctors stood outside the CM residence for 40 minutes with this demand. Seeing the situation worsening, CM Mamata Banerjee came out and told the doctors present there that she would get the entire conversation recorded but that recording would not be given to them right now because the matter is still in the Supreme Court. But even after her assurance, the doctors did not agree.
So is this the reason why Mamata did not agree for live streamingÂ
The doctors who reached the CM residence demanded that their conversation with the CM be live streamed but Mamata Banerjee was not ready for this. She told these doctors that I will get it recorded and this recording will be given to you after taking permission from the Supreme Court. Since this matter is currently in the Supreme Court, therefore our government cannot get this conversation live streamed.
“You are insulting me”
When the state government refused to live stream the conversation between the doctors and the CM, the delegation of doctors present at the CM’s residence got angry. They were not ready to go inside to talk to the CM. When CM Mamata came to know about this, she told these doctors that by doing this you are insulting me too. CM Mamata said that if you did not want to meet me then why did you send this email? Why are you people insulting me? I have been waiting for three days to talk to you people.
We had faith in CM Mamata…
The doctors protesting against not being able to talk to CM Mamata have also issued a statement. The doctors have said that we had faith in CM Madam. We hoped that she would agree to live streaming. But she has once again disappointed us all.
Doctors spoke on the arrest of former principal of RG Kar Hospital
As soon as they returned to the protest site from the CM’s residence, the doctors came to know that the CBI has arrested the hospital’s former principal Sandip Ghosh in this case. Regarding this arrest, the doctors said that Ghosh’s arrest proves that our demand was justified. The doctors even say that CM Mamata must have refused to talk in the evening because she must have got the information about Ghosh’s arrest by the CBI.
